In line with Galatians 6:10, we aim to support the needy in our midst and in our community

Please see our grant making policy below:

Who are we?

The Gospel Church of Jesus Christ (GCJC) is a charitable Christian church organisation committed to helping people in need from every age and background.

What do we fund?

The number of projects (people) we can support will be limited to the amount of funds available for distribution at every given time. The Trustees have determined that the priorities for funding over the coming years will be focused on but not limited to:

  • Homeless, single parents

  • Others homeless due to sudden change in their circumstances such as victim of abuse, sudden loss of job etc. (this does not include people made homeless due to substance misuse)

  • Those suffering with addiction and seeking help

  • Those who are bereaved with no support (clear evidence must be provided, such as bank statement)

  • Material provisions for families with low-income below £450 per month for a limited period. This shall be determined on a case-by-case basis and will not exceed 6 months.

  • Any other circumstance, which may not have been included above but warrant urgent support (this will require making a strong case with evidence why it should be considered by the panel)

Who is eligible to apply for funding from The Gospel Church of Jesus Christ?

The primary objective is to provide relief to:

  • Members of The Gospel Church of Jesus Christ

  • Those who had accepted Jesus Christ as Lord and Saviour (evidence of their membership of other churches may be required, such as reference from their pastor, priest or other easily verifiable members).

  • Those seeking the knowledge of God and the faith that is in Christ Jesus (evidence of commitment would be required)

  • Those of other faiths and non-faith background may apply subject to the condition that they are willing to be informed verbally and/or in writing that the grant was given to them through the love of Jesus Christ (there may be leaflets, stickers, letters accompanying every grant).

All donors to this fund are to be made fully aware about the above categories of people the grant will be used for. They will be required to read and accept terms and conditions before making any donations.

How to apply

Application can be submitted at any time and may be made in the following ways:

  • Walk-in (this will be managed by the emergency team. Please see walk-in emergencies procedure.)

  • Online application

  • Download, complete application form and send via email using the designated email address. Any email sent to other email address will not be considered

  • Referral from other charity organisations

  • Referral from members of the church (Usually with homeless people with no access to internet}

Ideally, the application must be accompanied by evidence where possible, credible eyewitness accounts. After the grant has been awarded and spent, the applicant must provide the Trustees or grant panel with a valid, written receipt from the supplier showing the total paid.

Where the applicant is an individual, and the grant is for one or more items, the Trustees or grant panel may choose to purchase those item(s) on the applicant’s behalf rather than giving that individual a direct grant of money.

Where an application is in respect of a service or event (involves multiple items of expenditure so that a single quotation or receipt is not practicable). The applicant shall provide such evidence to support the proposed and actual expenditure as the Trustees or grant panel may require.

How quickly will my application be considered?

Applications will be considered by the Trustees or grant panel on case-by-case basis for different categories of applicant. Each application will be assigned a category depending on the urgency of the case.

The Trustees or grant panel are normally able to provide a decision within 4 weeks of receipt of an application. In some cases, in-principle decisions may be made by Trustees or grant panel pending receipt of references, further information or a visit being arranged.

All grants are subject to the charity’s conditions of grant as detailed below.

What are the conditions of funding?

Before awarding a grant to an organisation or an individual, the Trustees or grant panel require that the application shall:

  • Inform the Trustees or grant panel of the purpose of the application, details of the project, the way in which the grant will be used and how it will be managed effectively for its intended purpose.

  • Inform the Trustees or grant panel of the names of those who are to be involved with the project/work to be carried out and the identity of the person(s) who will be responsible for the administration of the grant.

The conditions of funding are as follows:

  • All potential beneficiaries will be required to complete an application form, with supporting documentation where relevant, so that Trustees or grant panel can make a full and informed analysis of the entirety of the individual’s/group’s relevant circumstances.

  • If the Trustees or grant panel consider that the application does not fully meet the criteria for awarding a grant. They may ask the applicant(s) to supply further, more detailed information and, if required, a face-to-face meeting will be arranged.

  • All applicants will be required to declare that all information provided is true to the best of their knowledge.

  • Support received from The Gospel Church of Jesus Christ may not be used in any publicity material, social media and press releases produced by the recipient which relate to the event or activity that was funded without prior consent of GCJC.

  • Following an event or activity funded by GCJC, the recipient will (within six months, or sooner if required by the Trustees or grant panel) supply a written report to the Trustees or grant panel, with photographs where applicable.

  • Although GCJC does not aim to use grant for publicity purposes, however, by submitting the application form you agree to the use of photos/letters for the charity’s promotion, subject to safeguarding considerations and the consent of parents/guardians, where appropriate and where this is required by law.

  • If there is any change in circumstances relevant to the grant, it is the applicant's responsibility to let GCJC know promptly.

  • Grants given by GCJC must be used by the original applicant and must not be distributed to any other individuals or organisations, unless specifically authorised by the Trustees or grant panel.

  • No grants given to applicants should be used towards the costs or expenses arising from or relating to credit or debts.

  • Applicants that have been awarded a grant, may not re-apply within 12 months after receipt of grant.

  • An applicant that was unsuccessful because of lack of proof of evidence may reapply if they can provide additional information that can make application successful.

  • The grant must be used for the purpose in which it was awarded.

  • The grant must not be used to promote or support anything contrary to GCJC values (please see our statement of faith.)

  • The grant must be used within six months of receiving the money, otherwise it must be returned to GCJC.

  • Canvassing of Trustees or anyone on the grant panel will disqualify applications.

  • If the Trustees or grant panel consider that a recipient has not used their grant for the charitable purpose for which it was given, the grant may be repayable to GCJC (in full or in part) at the discretion of the Trustees or grant panel and the applicant will not be eligible for any future grants from GCJC.
